CosignRecovery — Provider Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms of Use and Privacy Policy ("Terms") govern your use of the CosignRecovery mobile and web application (the "Service") as a care provider. By creating an account, scrolling through these Terms, and checking the agreement box, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

CosignRecovery is a supportive companion application for patients in recovery from eating disorders. As a provider, you can receive connection requests from patients, view the meal logs they choose to share with you, and offer supportive reactions. The Service is designed to complement, not replace, your independent clinical judgment and the care you provide directly to your patients.

3. Scope of Practice and Professional Responsibility

The Service is not a medical device, a clinical record system, or a means to deliver treatment. Your use of the Service does not create a clinical relationship through CosignRecovery, and any clinical relationship remains solely between you and your patient under your own professional standards. You are responsible for complying with your licensing obligations, scope of practice, and applicable laws, including any duty of care you owe your patients independently of this Service.

4. Not a Substitute for Professional Care

You acknowledge that the Service is not a substitute for direct professional treatment or therapy, that it does not monitor patients for emergencies, and that you must not rely on it as your sole source of clinical information. You waive any right to pursue legal action against CosignRecovery arising from your use of the Service.

5. Eligibility and Your Account

You represent that you are a licensed care professional authorized to use the Service in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate credentials and to update them if they change.

6. Patient Data You Access

You may view meal logs, photographs, moods, completion amounts, and notes that a patient has voluntarily shared with you through an active connection. This is sensitive protected health information. You may only access it for the purpose of supporting that patient's recovery and only while your connection is active.

7. Confidentiality and HIPAA Obligations

You are responsible for handling any patient information you access as a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA and other applicable privacy laws. You must safeguard shared data, use it only as permitted, avoid unauthorized disclosure, and follow your own organization's compliance policies. CosignRecovery facilitates access but does not assume your legal obligations as a provider.

8. Reactions and Communication

You may leave a single supportive reaction on a shared meal log. The Service intentionally does not provide messaging, clinical notes, or treatment instructions. Do not use the Service to deliver medical advice or to replace direct communication with your patient.

9. Data Storage and Security

Shared meal photos are served through time-limited, signed links that only the patient and their connected providers can open. We use industry-standard safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection of data.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Access to a patient's shared data ends when the connection is revoked or the patient deletes their data. Some records may be kept in backups for a limited time before permanent removal. You must not retain or copy patient data outside the Service in violation of your privacy obligations.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on hosting, storage, and notification providers that process data on our behalf. We do not authorize them to use your patients' data for their own purposes.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CosignRecovery is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from your reliance on the Service instead of direct professional care.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be presented for your review and agreement before they take effect for your account.

14. Contact

For questions about these Terms or patient data, contact CosignRecovery support through the app.
